We have already gotten the glimpse about Nokia’s entry in world of Android, with Nokia X. Nokia had announced trio of phone devices like Nokia X, XL and X+ worldwide. Nokia XL is a larger Nokia Android phone with a better camera than its smaller brother Nokia X, rest of the features are more or less the same.
Following is the quick review of the Nokia XL Dual SIM Phone:
Look & feel
Nokia XL is larger than Nokia X that becomes very evident while we compare both of them. It’s thicker, at 10.9 mm, and at 190 g, is little heavy for phone of this size. Phone is accessible in 6 different colours – white, black, green, blue, yellow and orange. Anybody used to Asha or Lumia phone will find XL familiar, and considering its design takes the cues from Asha series and matte finish back is reminiscent of Lumia series.
Left edge is without any ports or physical buttons whereas right edge features power button and volume rocker. Top and bottom edges have 3.5mm of jack and micro-USB port to charge and transfer data, respectively. Above screen are front camera and ambient of light sensor, below is the capacitive button for the navigation unlike regular 3 button set up on Android. Back of device houses flash and camera modules and removing rear cover reveals the slots for 2 SIM cards and microSD card.
Nokia XL is powered by last generation dual-core and Snapdragon S4 processor clocked on 1GHz. Supplementing the processing power is Adreno 203 graphics unit. RAM capacity gets a bit of bump to 768 MB. In limited time with this device, swiping through home screen, wallpaper, and Fastlane appeared slow.
Additionally, phone has 4 GB of the internal storage that is expandable to 32GB using the microSD cards.
Nokia XL has 5inch of screen with WVGA resolution that translates to the density of over 187 ppi. One look on screen and user can spot the jagged edges on icons or tiles. Alternatively, IPS panel on the device displays blacks rightly. preloaded demo video appeared fine.
The Nokia XL is powered by an Android with a difference. Nokia assures that it’s listening to the user feedback with software running on X series of the smartphones, and constantly is tweaking it for the better performance. You will see updated version of Nokia X platform in the device that had 2 distinct features: widgets and tiles. Also Widgets for the 3rd party application can be color-coded as per your preference.
